Shams还补充道，第二年的合同包含球员选项与部分保障条款。这笔交易进一步巩固了哈登自加盟快船以来与球队建立的牢固合作关系。他获得了当之无愧的加薪，同时也为球队提供了在现在和未来补充人才的灵活性。

本赛季常规赛，哈登出战79场常规赛，场均在35.3分钟的出场时间内，能够得到22.8分5.8篮板8.7助攻1.5抢断，三项命中率分别是41%/35.2%/87.4%，并且在时隔两年后重返全明星。

首轮季后赛，哈登出战7场，场均39.3分钟拿到18.7分5.4篮板9.1助攻1.3抢断1盖帽3失误，三项命中率分别为43.6%、36.4%、81.8%。
