穆托姆博1966年6月25日出生于非洲刚果，他在1991年NBA选秀中于首轮第四顺位被掘金选中，职业生涯先后效力于掘金、老鹰、76人、篮网、尼克斯及火箭，共出战1196场比赛，场均得到9.8分10.3篮板2.8盖帽。穆托姆博曾8次入选全明星，3次入选最佳防守阵容一阵，4次当选年度最佳防守球员。

2009年4月22日，穆托姆博因膝伤宣布退役。2015年4月7日，穆托姆博正式入选奈-史密斯篮球名人纪念堂。2015年11月25日，老鹰退役了穆托姆博的55号球衣。2016年10月30日，掘金退役了穆托姆博的55号球衣。2024年9月30日，NBA官方消息，穆托姆博因脑癌去世，终年58岁。

职业生涯穆托姆博打了1196场常规赛，场均9.8分10.3篮板2.8盖帽；101场季后赛，场均9.1分9.5篮板2.5盖帽。
