美媒Ball Report表示，消息人士透露，勇士在交易截止日期间对艾顿表达了兴趣。
ClutchPoints记者Brett Siegel转发并“辟谣”，他表示：“在交易截止日前，没有球队有兴趣交易得到艾顿，因此他才没有被交易。开拓者愿意不惜一切来解除他的合同。他可以完全可以确认，勇士在2月份就从未就艾顿一事致电波特兰。”
Brett Siegel还跟进表示：“关于艾顿的交易？据我所知没有。开拓者接到过其他球队的交易致电，但没有关于艾顿的。只有他买断合同之后才有会对他感兴趣，也就是现在了。”
Ball Report更推回应Brett Siegel：“Brett Siegel以前犯过很多错误，所以他试图诋毁我们是很可笑的。我们坚持我们的报道——勇士的确关注过艾顿的情况。也许Brett只是没有太注意、没听见。”
